Amber, sometimes called" Lynx Stone",  is formed from tree resin, a natures natural analgesic​ used to reduce pain and inflammation.  Sometimes called "Natures Sunshine" due to its uplifting and positive energy.  Amber detoxifies on all levels, turning negative energy into positive, negative thoughts into positive thoughts and light.  It  helps lift our mood when we're feeling down . . .

HISTORY

Amber is formed from the resin of trees so doesn't have a crystalline structure but is considered a "crystal".  Amber molecules have to polymerise, which can take millions of years (or at least 100,000 years).

Sometimes insects can become trapped and fossilised in Amber, pieces with insects inside are more valuable. 

In 79 AD the Roman scientist documented Ambers  electrostatism: the  ability to carry static electricity.

Amber beads have been found in ancient burial sites from as far back as 8000 BC and has been found in Egyptian tombs and sacred Indian temples.  The oldest piece of Amber is believed to date back to 320 million years ago.  

A Chinese tradition is that tigers souls transform to Amber after their death. 

Vikings, believed that Amber was the tears of Freyja, goddess of love and beauty. She wore a necklace called Brisingamen, made by four dwarven craftsmen of gold and amber.

Ancient Greeks, believed Amber was the tears of the daughters of Apollo, the sun god.

Amber has been used since the time of Hippocrates as a natural medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine uses Amber to "tranquillise the mind".  Europeans have long used Amber necklaces to help colic and teething pain (although this can be choking hazard).  

To test the authenticity of Amber or whether it is an imitation resin, pop it in some warm salty water, natural Amber will float.
