Crazy Lace Agate is a gentle crystal with lots of banding and occasionally a druse.  It's a lovely crystal for when we're feeling down and need a bit of inspiration.  As with all Agates, Crazy Lace is a grounding crystal that brings us back to the present, reminds us of the marvel of nature and puts us back on our feet feeling nurtured, stronger and secure.  It's also a crystal of inspiration, you only have to look at Crazy Lace to feel it switching on new creative ideas in our mind.  When things happen that are out of control and we feel ourselves spiralling, meditate with some Crazy Lace it helps us not get too down on situations but instead it settles our emotions and reminds us to let things be, go with the flow, and enjoy the ride .

HISTORY

Crazy Lace Agate is a marketing name used for a variety of Agate with lace like patterns currently only found in Chihuahua, Mexico.  It is believed to have been formed between 65-90 million years ago in Earth's Cretaceous period. 

As with all Agates, Crazy Lace is a hard crystal, it takes 2 weeks or more to smooth in a tumbler and is time consuming to carve.

APPEARANCE and VARIATIONS

This Agate has inclusions of iron and aluminium creating beautiful lace like patterns of swirling and twisting banding and even orbicular patterning making each piece entirely unique.  

COLOURS:  Cream to beige with red, black, brown, grey, and white patterns.  Mexican Crazy Lace is more white with stronger brownish red patterns.  

 

UV REACTION:

Some pieces may fluoresce under UV light depending on the inclusions in the agate → Green

FORMATION:   Crazy Lace Agate forms in veins and other subsurface cavities. It is banded because it forms in layers on the walls of the veins and cavities, each layer forming a band.  Sometimes scatters or clusters of crystals were deposited on top of the most recent layer of agate, and then additional layers deposited on top of those as well. This is why the banding of Crazy Lace is so complex and crazy.
