HISTORY 

Before Aventurine was discovered, man made a synthetic stone from glass and copper that we was, and still is, called Goldstone.  When Aventurine was found with it's natural glittery inclusions it resembled Goldstone. It's sparkly appearance was named Aventurescence after the Italian world "Avventura" meaning "by chance" or "by luck", and the stone was named Aventurine.  

Tibetans used Aventurine for eyes in their statues, as they believed it's shimmery light increased the statue's visionary powers.

COLOURS and VARIATIONS

The "glitter" in Green Aventurine is caused by Fuchsite inclusions.  Light entering the quartz strikes these inclusions and reflects from them. This produces a sparkly appearance known as "Aventurescence."

Green is the most common colour of Aventurine, but it is also found in Blue, Yellow, Orange, Brown and Grey colours.   

Red, orange and brown types of aventurine are created when hematite or goethite is present instead of fuchsite.
