When White Calcite is fully transparent it is called Optical Calcite, or Iceland Spar, sometimes known as Clear Calcite

Optical Calcite is double refractive and contains stunning rainbow inclusions.  Vikings used Optical Calcite as a navigation tool, allowing them to always be able to find the sun no matter the weather. 

This is a highly spiritual crystal, personally we find this the best crystal for bringing spiritual guidance and visions.  It also cleanses our Aura's and fills us with inner-peace.  

 

HISTORY and OVERVIEW

When White Calcite is fully transparent it is called Optical Calcite, or Iceland Spar, sometimes known as Clear Calcite

Optical Calcite is double refractive, objects appearing through it will look as though they’re in two places at once. It is usually completely transparent and contains stunning rainbow inclusions.  

It is believed that the Vikings used Optical Calcitel as a navigation tool, allowing them to always be able to find the sun no matter the weather. Historians believe the “sunstone” that has been commonly referred to in Medieval Icelandic texts is actually Optical Calcite. Further evidence of this is that Optical Calcite was found in the 1592 shipwreck “Alderney”.
