Ametrine shows us clarity , gives us creative solutions to problems and protects us from psychic attack. It is commonly believed that Ametrine is a combination of Amethyst and Citrine. Scientifically it is a mix of Quartz that has yellow oxidised, and purple non-oxidised iron inclusions.

HISTORY

Ametrine, also called Trystine or a trade name, Bolivianite.

It is believed that Ametrine was first bought to Europe when it was gifted to the Queen of Spain by a conquistador in the 1600's. the conquistador had received a Bolivian mine containing Ametrine as a dowry when he married a princess from the native Indian Ayoreos tribe.

FORMATION: The difference between the colours in this type of Quartz is that yellow is formed by oxidised iron inclusions and purple Amethyst formed by unoxidised iron inclusions. This is due to varying temperatures across the Quartz during its formation. Due to it's colour, the yellow quartz in this crystal is commonly referred to as Citrine.
