Blue Lace Agate is on our personal top 5 personal favourite crystal list!  It's gentle blue colours, beautiful banding and occasional druse reminds us of the ocean on a calm day and that's exactly the energy it brings.  Blue Lace brings calm and tranquility.  It tells us to stop, slow down, relax and enjoy the simple things in life rather than rushing to the next thing all of the time.  This is a crystal that fills us with inner-peace.

HISTORY, FOLKLORE and OVERVIEW

The deposit where Blue Lace Agate was found is believed to date back approximately 54 million years but it wasn't discovered until 1962 by Willy Preiss.  As he lived more than 400 miles away a deal was made and the mining of Blue Lace Agate was passed over to George Swanson who managed the mine until his death in 2010.  The stone was located deep inside a narrow trench and was extracted initially by hand where miners were climbing down chain ladders to get to it using chisels and jackhammers and bringing the stone back to the surface in buckets attached by chains to a crane at the side of the pit.  For this reason large pieces of blue lace agate are extremely rare.  Following the death of George Swanson, his son Lionel took over the mine but very little was excavated between then and the mine being closed in 2015.

FORMATION:   Normally form as nodules or geodes in igneous rocks. When an empty pocket or hole inside a porous rock fills layer by layer and the molecules begin to crystallize, bands of agate form. CLEANSING:  Our favourite way to cleanse Blue Lace is by running it in fresh cold water (rain water, or water from a stream or the ocean)

CARE:  Agates are hardy crystals but we recommend to avoid harsh cleaning products.
