HISTORY and OVERVIEW

Calcite is a rock forming mineral that is extremely common.  It's found throughout the world in sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks.  Some geologists consider Calcite to be a "ubiquitous mineral", one that is found everywhere. 

Calcite is one of the most widely used minerals, used in construction, as an abrasive, agricultural soil treatment, pigment, pharmaceutical and more.

Aragonite will change to calcite within days at temperatures exceeding 300 °C.

Some calcites (normally the more translucent optical calcites) can be found growing in a Rhomboid crystalline structure forming a perfect geometrical shape.

Metaphysically naturally forming Rhomboid's close off mind chatter, brings mental stillness and are a powerful healer of the past.

These pieces are rare to find, personally we find them little miracles, growing in such symmetry, signs that everything is in perfect order, the way it is meant to be, in perfect balance.

GREEN CALCITE (Pistachio Calcite and Green Banded Calcite)

May be banded (white, cream to brown streaks) and a chalky or waxy texture.  The banded variety is called Green Banded Calcite and non banded is called Pistachio Calcite, they can be very difficult to distinguish if the bands are wide and you have a piece of green calcite that just happens to have been cut without the banding on it.
