A crystal habit is the term Mineralogists use to categorise the shape or forms in which crystals and minerals grow into.   These shapes are influenced by the atomic structure of the mineral, but they can also be influenced by the environment of crystal growth.

Recognising crystal habits is a useful way to identify crystals and add to understanding of their properties.
